The practical questions
- What it costs
- The price is on request: it depends on the woods, finishes and electronics you choose, and I send it to you in a quote that includes shipping.
- How long it takes
- From confirmation to shipping it usually takes four to six months. While it is being built you receive photographs of each stage: the routed body, the neck, the first coat of finish.
- Choosing from afar
- The wood is chosen on a video call, looking at the real boards, with their figure and their flaws. You can write to me in your own language.
- Payment
- A deposit on confirmation, sometimes split into two stages during the build, and the balance before shipping — or on delivery, when I hand the instrument over in person. We agree the details in the quote.
- Shipping
- With FedEx or UPS, insured for the value of the instrument, in a hard case and with a tracking number all the way to your door.
- In Italy
- You can collect it at the workshop in Rende, by appointment, or I ship it to your home.
- Duties and customs
- Outside the European Union there may be duties and customs charges: they vary from country to country, are collected by customs on arrival and do not go through me.
- What you receive
- The instrument set up by hand, the certificate and the case.
- Warranty and service
- A limited lifetime warranty on construction — wood, glue joints, neck — for the first owner, with the instrument registered within thirty days. Two years on components and electronics. It does not cover knocks, drops and accidental damage, normal wear, adjustments due to climate or modifications made by others. Shipping for repairs is paid by the owner. An instrument built here is repaired here.
